Runnin’ to the top Will I ever stop? Life goes by me fast Looking for quick cash There goes mom and pop Setting up a shop Don’t have time for that Not even time to chat Hope I never drop Waiting for that flop By the time I’ve asked Answer’s gone and passed Now I’m runnin’ hot Or at least I thought I had gotten fat Now I fall flat Straight on my face Not a trace left Thought I’d been blessed I guess I guessed wrong Where do I belong? I’m back on my feet A secondary treat Back to my old ways I’m not even fazed Will get better yet Or at least I bet Driving for that raise A trend that lasts for days Something is off beat I feel incomplete It seems to fall away I know I shouldn’t stay Now I take a seat Future’s looking bleak Try to break away But I fall flat Straight on my face Not a trace left Thought I’d been blessed I guess I guessed wrong Where do I belong? Go there one more time My partner in crime I should pull away Cuz I’m in disarray What do I hope to find Runnin’ round blind Give way to dismay As I fall flat Straight on my face Not a trace left Thought I’d been blessed I guess I guessed wrong I’m just too far gone

Summer song’s too far gone don’t delay too long Here it comes we belong Where it stays Autumn Don’t withdraw, come upon now a stage bent on Golden Age, come of age Disengage Autumn Natural Motif Falling Leaves An aperitif Laden Relief Let’s begin with a spin Revel in the dawn Spoken wind, my old friend Come to send Autumn Now ascend, in the end we transcend above What a trend, see it tends To suspend Autumn

Looking out a long way Take it farther than I should take I go there anyway Sure I’ll see a bright new wave Trying my best to stay Doing whatever pays Doesn’t matter if it’s minimum wage Keeping whatever I find Don’t dabble with the wrong or right I’m kind when I wanna be kind Never bother with that hindsight I see myself as unconfined They say I got a beautiful mind But my mannerism’s not refined

Holdin' on to the edge of the bed How's your head? Mine's dead, got a mouthful of lead I gotta get up, get away from the crawl With the face down Motown belle of the ball. What have we got that's got us back? We gotta write it up like a plan of attack So keep still, it'll take a while Get down in the dirty, hurt with a smile. Grit teeth, keep up the brave face, Bundle up, erupt into head space, Stalling out at the end of the rope, Last hope's gone home and up in smoke. Thresholds and empty bowls Choke holds and hollow souls All too glad to give up the fight No spark, no bark, no bite, so What does he do? He doesn't Who is he now? He wasn't Got no thoughts to entertain Lack of words and aim in the brain What does he want? For nothing Yeah, where does he go? Nowhere He's no one of consequence, yeah Only a man among other sins. Sits in the house at the end of the street Got no to-do's, no shoes on his feet On the rise, blinds pulled in tight No lot, he's got no dog in the fight. So lean back and kick 'em off, Life's got no right to stop his sloth, From dawn through dusk he fucks with his head, Shut in the sheets of a heavenly bed. No, can you hear him? He's got the rot, The brain rot stains with gainless pain, spots Dancing round right in front of his eyes, A miser of life, a non-smoking wise guy. Keeping time, rhymes spilling away With head in hands and hands led astray Two timing and timing is wrong, Lurks in the lurch at the end of the song. Give it up to the man himself He's a world class dumb ass head on a shelf. What does he do? He doesn't Who is he now? He wasn't Got no thoughts to entertain Lack of words and aim in the brain What does he want? For nothing Yeah, where does he go? Nowhere He's no one of consequence, yeah Only a man among other sins. C'mon!

Pressure pressin’ buttons in my mind I’m lookin’ for the kind Of trip to get me away. Do you know where I can maybe find A place to go unwind? I need to be gone today. Girl, you are the cloud over my life, My reason to get high Above you and fly away. I never noticed before, The wide world is kickin’ in my front door. Time to evacuate, Time to set myself free to roam, yeah. Read the road behind me, baby, try To find me, baby, I’ll Be gone when you hear this song. Don’t be left despondent, honey, time Is blind to money, rest Assured that there’s nothing wrong. Have I ever let you down? If so, I need to let you know That somebody led me on Dust clouds settling down Over the whole town Rain comes crashin’ in And it’s washin’ me out One more thing before I go, I need To let you know I Never blamed you for holding back. It was not the condescending, you Don’t need convincing, not The truth, maybe more its lack. If I stay in your town for too long, The pull becomes too strong, I’ll never get back on track. So we never had this conversation, I'm on vacation, Pass me by, baby, don’t look back.

Another day gone Let’s lay awhile The path winds along So many a mile Full of chills Lackluster thrills Slow down Slow down you say Don't be ashamed Try to stay close We’ll keep warm that way Do not worry Things might go blurry Please stay Bridge: Should I just tell you How much I really care about you darling And quit my stalling? Now tell the truth That you feel as I do Let's try something new It may be long But we belong In the end When the day dawns I want you to know Awake though we'll be Our dreams will still show And just simply I’ll put it simply I love you

I've spent afternoons Searching through My looking glass At days of past Both young and old A page of my soul As I sit back Can't help but have A feeling of reprieve My thoughts surrounding me A dream Of no more need Guess I’ll leave It’s time to leave In this life Peace and strife Take your time You'll be just fine (Fret not for me, fall into the world) As is said and done Battles lost and won I set forth towards the sun Journeys just begun Of no more need Guess I’ll leave It’s time to leave

about

The Big Strong Arms’ current lineup have been playing together since 2012, and recording together at Pie Man Sound since 2014. Starting from scratch in the music world, the band has cobbled together their own unique identity – informed by a globe-spanning list of artists and acts including Nat King Cole, Frank Zappa, Yoko Kanno, Hiatus Kaiyote, Elbow, Lack of Afro, Queens of the Stone Age, Jimi Hendrix (especially the B-Sides!), Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, The Who, and Paul McCartney. It is thanks to this diverse range of idols and influences that the Arms can imbue their music with such a wide range of emotions. From the screaming, thrashing waves of “Undertow” to the loose, delicate tones of “Major State of Mind,” the flexibility of the Big Strong Arms knows no bounds.

An underground sensation up ‘til now, the Big Strong Arms’ first studio album is set to change the face of the Raleigh music scene. Produced by punk rock pioneer and CBGB’s mainstay Mitchell Dancik and featuring guest spots from local musicians Mark Powell, Karin Bennett, and Taylor Babson, “A Band You Can Trust” is a passion project made real.
